A FULL MOON, FUN RUN ON OUTRAGEOUS BACKROADS, DOWNTOWN PARADE OF BIKES, $1,000 IN PRIZES, FOOD, LIVE MUSIC AND WATERSKI SHOW

Minocqua knows how to throw a party.  It’s about time that the party was for Bikers, exclusively Bikers, starting Friday night, June 18th.  Festivities include “Fun Runs”, a bike parade, beer tent and live music.  The Minocqua-Arbor Vitae-Woodruff Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors the weekend event.

FRIDAY NIGHT
Friday night’s hospitality tent is at the Best Western Concord Inn, downtown Minocqua.  The Concord is just across the street from Torpy Park, where all the Saturday night action occurs.  It’s also just a short walk from the downtown area where there is plenty to do while visiting all of the restaurants, bars and shops.  The hospitality tent will open at 5:00 p.m. and will have the Summer Thunder Fun Run Map and Summer Thunder merchandise for sale.  Area information, discounts and coupons will be available for all.  “Fun Run” maps are also available at participating taverns and Northern Lights Harley-Davidson.

SATURDAY MORNING
Saturday morning will kick off at Northern Lights Harley-Davidson with a coffee & donuts reception hosted by the Lakeland Kiwanis Club from 9:00 a.m. to Noon.  The dealership will have a Father’s Day Sale as well as a “Garage Sale”; Demo rides all day and a “Fit Shop Seminar” at 10:00 a.m. The “Fit Shop” shows riders how seat, handlebar and suspension adjustments can be made to custom fit the motorcycle to the rider.

Sponsored by the Tavern League, the Summer Thunder Fun Run Maps are $15 each and will be sold from 9:00 a.m. to Noon at the dealership. Riders can select from three different “Fun Run” routes of various lengths with designated stops along the way.  Collect a minimum of 5 stamps from designated stops for an entry in the drawings, totaling $1,000 in cash with a $500 1st prize. 

SATURDAY AFTERNOON
All “Fun Run” maps must be turned in at Northern Lights Harley-Davidson by 5:00 p.m. Saturday, to be eligible for prizes.  Entrants will receive a numbered ticket for each stamp gathered.  The prizes will be awarded at 8:00 p.m. You must be present to win and have your numbered ticket stubs.

The parade of bikes starts at 5:30 p.m. from Northern Lights Harley-Davidson in Arbor Vitae to downtown Minocqua.  The main drag of Minocqua will be closed to all vehicular parking except for motorcycles.  Downtown is a fun-filled twelve square blocks of shops, restaurants and bars, many with live music.  Join the Min-Aqua Bats for a special live performance on Lake Minocqua at 7:00 p.m.  Torpy Park is the heart of the party.  Live music, refreshments, beer and camaraderie are the theme.  All of the action, from the Min-Aqua Bats performance to the Torpy Park party, is a very short walk from your bike.  Live music will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the park.  The music pauses at 8:00 p.m. for the 50/50 raffle and the “Fun Run” drawings.  You must be present to win and must present your numbered ticket stubs.  Music resumes until 10:00 p.m.

There will be Summer Thunder t-shirts and bandanas for sale at the hospitality tent and at Torpy Park during festivities.
